| 2 DAY STUDIO WEEKEND WORKSHOPS at Ballard Studio Designed for intermediate painters, these weekend workshops will take place in the Ballard studio. We will work from enlarged color copies of landscape photos. There will be a daily demonstration and lecture. Participants will do small paintings in the medium indicated. Edges in Landscape Painting Learn the techniques to get soft, rough and hard edges, in watercolor and mixed media painting. Your paintings will have movement, be easy to look at, have spacial depth, and a high "Yummy" factor. First day is watercolor, second day is mixed media of pastel and watercolor. Intended for intermediate level in watercolor.
Got Color? - Time to Finetune It This workshop takes Color to another universe. If you've got the basics of mixing, warm and cool, complements, values, intensities, it's time to really work with them! Mix greens, just in time for Spring! Mix grays/browns just in time for rain!
Outdoor Weekend Workshop This outdoor workshop, open to intermediate painters, will be held on location, place TBD, usually within 2-3 hours of Seattle. Learning to find good simple design in landscape, as well as lively harmonious color, will be the focus. Also covered will be techniques of painting outdoors and finding shapes in the mess of things. Maximum of 15 participants.
OTHER WORKSHOPS Mixed Media in Landscapes, Frye Art Museum, Seattle, WA This 3 Saturday workshop will cover in detail the techniques of the Principle of Ooze, working with pastel into wet watercolor. Yakima River Outdoor Workshop This 3 day workshop will be held along the Yakima River in the Yakima Canyon at the Lodge at Canyon River Ranch in eastern WA. www.canyonriver.net The Lodge has indoor space if weather is rainy. Besides painting along the riverfront, there will be a one day sketching river raft trip, depending on the river and weather. Accommodations, suitable for 3-4 per suite, are available at the Lodge. Great time for small groups of artist and friends to get away and do art in a beautiful setting. Workshop is open to artists working in pencil, pastel, and watercolor; geared to an introductory skill level. Intermediate painters are welcome. Cost $255. Maximum of 15. Watercolor Basics, Frye Art Museum, Seattle, WA This 4 day workshop is geared for the very beginning watercolorist, and open to intermediate artists. We will cover basics of art supplies, brushwork,making consistent values by focusing on thicknesses of paint and water, and in depth background on choosing pigments.
